The MORTICE LOCKS must have a minimum of 5 levers and at least 1000 key combinations, a Saw resistant bolt with a minimum 14mm throw and able to withstand 300lbs side and 5000lbs end pressure. A Drill resistant lock case, One or more anti-pick devices
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) guidelines require all final exit doors to be fitted with 5-lever mortice locks (or equivalent) conforming to BS 3621 and marked with the BS Kite mark. Rack bolts or security bolts generally fitted to rear back doors.

The cylinder is protected by a security shroud preventing removal of the cylinder. . The cylinders used are a 6 pin cylinder with hardened pins to prevent drilling .Round rose handles will need to be fitted with this lock. |

ERA Security Products manufacture British Standard dead locks and mortice sash locks for use on wooden / metal doors. These locks are insurance approved and hold the BS3621 kite mark.
Locks are available in 2.5" or 3" sizes. Easy to install in place of a 3 lever lock or 5 lever lock not conforming to insurance requirements. Remember to upgrade you locks! |
Landlord Lock Security Advice
The locks shown on the insurance mortice lock page are not acceptable if the house is occupied by 2 or more people. General Security Advice
Fitting a mortice deadlock to an external door may be a good way to secure the door but the door may require a little reinforcement. Please ask about kick plates to enhance the door and frame. These are bolt through plates and come in various finishes. |
High security British standard locks
